Schedules
Schedules are am important visual strategy to use in the class. Autistic students pay a lot of attention to schedules as they lessen their anxiety when they know what is happening ahead of time. Some students are also less likely to be oppositional to a visual schedule than the spoken word, especially on a bad day, when they are tired or unwell.
The staff schedule is also important so all staff can be fully engaged and for the safety of each child.
The following video is by Carla Butorac at www.behaviourcommunicates.com and discusses the importance of 3 different types of schedules you must have in your classroom.
Our students can learn many concepts in maths and reading successfully with engaging videos. Your students will enjoy this video. Source: Mother Goose Club.com
Executive Functioning
Amythest Schaber is an autistic adult and says that she struggles with executive functioning herself. She is one of my favourite 'go to' people when I want to develop my own knowledge on autism. She talks with clarity and a deep understanding of the topic and is easy to listen to.
In my Autism Shop, I do have a book that can help your students or child with Executive Functioning. It is a good resource to have or recommend to parents, as executive fuctioning does impact on family life.
